Pastor Boris Jovinov has been appointed as the new Evangelism and Personal Ministries Director for the North New South Wales Conference (NNSW). He will step into the role as Pastor Lyle Southwell transitions to a new appointment with the South Pacific Division next year.
Pastor Jovinov currently serves as the senior pastor of the Murwillumbah Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Tweed Valley. He has more than 15 years of ministry experience across Australia and the United States, having served in Sydney, Newcastle, and the Northern Rivers regions.
He began his ministry in 2008 as a Bible worker in the Greater Sydney Conference, later serving in evangelism and teaching roles in Oregon, USA, and at the Northern Australian Conference. In 2017, he and his family moved to North New South Wales, where he served as outreach coordinator and evangelist for ARISE Australia, senior pastor at Warners Bay church, and church planter for Newcastle University church before taking up his current post in Murwillumbah.
Reflecting on his appointment, Pastor Jovinov said he feels “fearful but hopeful” as he steps into the role. “My heart is very much in the local church, but we’ve sensed God’s calling, so it’s a step of faith for us,” he said. “I just hope that we can be a blessing for the kingdom.”
Sharing his vision for the department, Pastor Jovinov said his passion is to see every church member experience what God can do through them. “If we can move beyond evangelism being a series of programs and instead cultivate a culture of soul-winning across our churches, that would be it,” he explained. “I also hope to collaborate closely with the various entities of the church for evangelistic purposes.”
NNSW Conference president Pastor Cristian Copaceanu said he is excited to welcome Pastor Jovinov to the team. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and significant experience. He’s been highly engaged and active in evangelism and mission—he’s done it himself, knocking on doors, taught at ARISE, and even ran his own mission school. We believe his skills will be instrumental in moving mission forward in this conference.”
Pastor Jovinov is married to Marlena, and they have four children: Noah, Moses, Yelena, and Anna.
