Official Statement – Incident at Pathfinder Expedition

An adult member of the Port Macquarie Pathfinder Club is recovering in a stable condition after an incident during a Pathfinder Expedition in the Hogarth Range region on Sunday, June 8.

The individual fell approximately four metres while hiking with his group in a rocky section of the trail. Pathfinder leaders promptly administered first aid and contacted emergency services, who responded quickly.

Emergency services—including Police, NSW Ambulance, Casino VRA Rescue, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter—attended the scene and coordinated a successful response. With assistance, the individual was able to walk to a nearby clearing, where he was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital for further treatment.

He is currently receiving care for moderate injuries and remains in a stable condition.

The Pathfinder Club is a program of the Seventh-day Adventist Church designed for young people aged 10 to 15. Through weekly meetings, Pathfinders engage in fun, hands-on learning about nature, health, community values, the Bible, and a wide range of practical skills and hobbies. They also participate in civic events, community service, and social outreach projects.

The Pathfinder Club is active in more than 160 countries, with over 90,000 clubs and more than 1.5 million members worldwide. It has been an official program of the Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1950.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the North New South Wales region expresses gratitude for the prompt, calm, and professional response demonstrated by the Pathfinder group and leadership team and extends appreciation to all emergency service personnel involved.  We ask for continued prayers as the individual recovers.
