Thiago Barbosa Bio:

Thiago is a Syntropic Agroforestry pioneer in Australia who for the past 10 years has been spreading the knowledge of this unique food production and land restoration technique.

In 2013 Thiago fell in love with the principles of Syntropic Agroforestry in Brazil and has been since improving his skills with different teachers and friends like Ernst Götsch, Henrique Sousa, Karin Hanzi, Patricia Vaz, Namaste Ganesh, Joao Pereira, Murilo Arantes, Fernando Rebello and others, experiencing from small to large scale operations across different biomes.

With work carried across the globe, Thiago teaches from backyard gardeners to farmers, how to apply the principles in different regions and climates helping thousands of land stewards to transition from conventional regenerative practices.

What is Syntropic Agroforestry?
Syntropic Agroforestry is an innovative approach to agriculture that allows us to create dynamic, successional and economically viable ecosystems that restore degraded soil biodiversity. By understanding and respecting nature's complex system, Syntropic Agroforestry imitates the natural regeneration of forests and provides a harmonious integration of our food production systems.

Developed by Swiss Botanist Ernst Göstch, it is a system that produces its own organic matter through the practice of pruning, which continually increases resources while boosting root activity and encouraging a higher rate of photosynthesis. This results in an abundant system that creates healthier soils, increases diversity of food, requires less water, sequesters carbon, regenerates the ecosystem and doesn't require long-term external inputs.

About the Workshop:
Learn how to produce an abundant variety of fruit, veggies, timber and other crops while regenerating ecosystems and creating ecological resilience, climate stability, economic prosperity and healthy communities. This innovative technique can be applied from backyard gardens to large-scale farms.
